Description: A New Start is a compilation of two stories: "Christmas in King's Gap" and "Home for Christmas". A New Start is a heartwarming tale of forgiveness, love and togetherness; stories about starting afresh, making amends and being with those you love during the holidays.
Christmas in King's Gap: Jessica left the small town of King's Gap many years ago and vowed never to return, but a bad marriage and the fear of her ex-husband was enough motivation for her. With guilt and regret she moved into the house her mother left her when she died. Strange events started happening the day Jessica returned to King's Gap.
Home for Christmas: Sarah left her family home to marry a man she thought loved her. She ignored her parents’ pleas and left the peace and security of small town life behind her, but she made a mistake. He didn’t love her, nor did he care about the kids that they raised together. He abused her, abused them, and now Sarah has no choice but to leave him and head back home, back to the peace, the security and the uncertainty. What will her parents think? Will they still accept her? Sarah arrives just before Christmas, landing on the doorstep of her former home and begging that her parents take her in. But she has been gone for a long time, things have changed, people have come and gone, and there are a few surprises in store for Sarah and her two children. jeopardy and only complete honesty can save it.
Reviews: "With the holiday season just around the corner, this is a nice book to pick up, especially if you're busy shopping, decorating, and just getting ready because it's not actually one book...it's two (novellas)! At $0.99, it's quite a steal, and with a price that low, it's definitely worth taking a look at.
"A New Start" contains two stories, "Christmas in King's Gap" and "Home for Christmas." Sarah and Jessica, the two main characters are exceptionally well-developed, relatable, and interesting. Both stories will make you feel all warm and fuzzy and are about new starts (what comes after Christmas? New Years!), forgiving, and being with people that you love. Any holiday book worth its salt should at least have a few of those themes. I don't want to give away too much since the entire book is about 17,000/18,000 words or so, so you need to pick this one up and try it!
Morris Fenris also has some other delightful holiday books out. It would be hard for me to only pick a single one to recommend, since they are all so entertaining, but if I had to pick one, I would say start with this one. It gives you a bit of a taste of this author's talents in two stories, rather than just a novel."
