Hand in the Till: Kindle Book of the Day 6/25

A wickedly hilarious comedy, Hand in the Till comes from soon-to-be comic writing legend Gerald Hansen, whose knack for creating outrageous and dysfunctional Irish families has already been a huge hit at the Kindle Fire Department. This latest one about the Floods and their get-rich-quick scheme is full of craziness and impossible-not-to-laugh moments. Heck, it may even make you feel better about your family!

Name: Hand in the Till
Rating: 5.0 stars over 26 reviews
Price: 2.99
Description: With a family like this, who wouldn't need absinthe?

Fionnuala Flood, mother of seven unruly thugs, takes stock of her life as her 45th birthday approaches, and it couldn't be more of a misery. She's been fired from the corner shop for stealing, her two oldest sons are in prison, her husband's hands are fondling more than frozen fish at the packing plant, and her lesbian daughter has just published a book exposing the family's attempts to get their claws into Auntie Ursula Barnett's lottery winnings the year before. Daughter Dymphna, unwed mother, has just been kicked out of her boyfriend's house, adding two more mouths to feed.

Desperate to raise money to travel to Malta for the launch party and wreak havoc, Fionnuala puts into motion a get-rich-quick scheme that preys on the weaknesses of others and will hopefully add a bit of luxury to her empty coal bin of a life. The scam, however, unleashes dark secrets that bring Ursula back to town for a final showdown. Hand In The Till is a darkly comic look at revenge, retribution and, perhaps, reconcilliation. With a shot of absinthe.

Reviews: "I enjoyed this book tremendously, especially the wicked Fionnuala and awful Siofra!! There is so much going on, the characters are so deliciously malicious, I throughly enjoyed every page and so many of the lines and plot twists... what I wanted most was for there to be another!!! I can't say much more without giving away the plot, but if you like a brew of crazy, self-involved characters, frothing together like sharks in a feeding frenzy, then you will fall in love with the entire family in spite of the initial loathing you will feel for them and their friends for much of the book... pick up a copy, grab a cappuccino, and have some napkins ready for those moments when you will inevitably spray the contents of your mouth all over the pages in front of you!!!"
