Free and Bargain Apps for 1/5

If you ever had seconds thoughts of getting a Kindle Fire over a Nook Tablet, you should take a little comfort in making the decision you did. The news item du jour from the Wall Street Journal is that Barnes & Noble is attempting to sell off its entire Nook division after tepid sales of the Nook Simple Touch and rising advertising costs in order to compete have been draining the company of cash. Whether BN will be able to find a buyer and whether this is a sign of more trouble ahead for the company are hard to say, but it says something about the substantial pressure Amazon is able to exert by selling its Fires at a loss in order to hijack market share.

Speaking of great deals and low prices, you should check out Amazon's New Year, New You in 2012 promotion, if you haven't yet. Lots of bargains on games, exercise equipment, software and more!

Lastly, we've got a nice little dice game to complement solitaire and other classic games. Check it out!

Name: Simple Dice
Rating: 4.0 stars over 5 reviews

Roll the dice and contemplate your next move. Simple Dice is a game of strategy and chance. Whether you choose to save your roll and earn the allotted points for a three of a kind, or keep trying for a 40 -point large straight, this Yahtzee style game will have you crossing your fingers for that lucky roll.

The simple interface makes it easy to see how many points each score category will offer your roll by displaying potential points next to each one, but it won't make the decision for you. What you choose to do with each roll is up to you. There are thirteen score categories displayed on the screen above your roll. You get three chances to roll and save rolls for that desired score before you must choose a score category. Each category can only be used once.
