Article Recap and Free and Cheap Kindle Fire Apps for 1/21

Article Recap for January Week 3
It's been another great week here at the Kindle Fire Department, and probably the top highlight was announcing the winner of our first Kindle Fire Giveaway. Ginny was extremely thrilled to win and we all appreciate everyone's congratulations and good wishes. The Fire is actually on its way down to her daughter in North Caroline and should arrive today or Monday. We're also pleased to say that we're lining up more exciting giveaways as we speak for a variety of items that will capture your interests. So stay tuned!

This week we also announced the release of our Tips & Tricks ebook, The Kindle Fire Department Compendium. It has already sold hundreds and hundreds of copies and is firmly planted on numerous bestseller lists! We thank all of you who wanted easy access to our material for supporting us!

We were surprised this week with software update 6.2.2 from Amazon, which brought us full-screen video. In the same article we got into Borrowing Books from the Prime Lending Library and Amazon's new Send to Kindle desktop program. Very useful stuff.

The timing for the full-screen option was great because our focus this week was on watching videos. We got into Streaming Video to Your TV with Roku, which was a great option for bringing online videos to your TV. Unfortunately we did not have many good things to say about the new Slingplayer coming for the Fire, which allows you to watch TV on your device. And then we capped off the week with how to Watch US Only Videos While Outside the US.

We look forward to another great week ahead, and we thank you for reading!

This next one is an interesting word game featuring 3 dictionaries and plenty of gameplay to test your vocabulary. Check it out for free!

Name: Dropwords

I think pretty much everyone in the world has played Connect Four, and now you can play this great clone on your Kindle Fire for free!

Name: Four in a Row
Rating: 4.9 stars over 12 reviews
Price: 0.00
Description: Here's a modern take on the classic Four in a Row game. A tap of the finger drops tokens into a grid, with the goal being to line up four tokens in a row. It's deceptively simple, but compelling enough to keep players occupied for hours.

Optime's trademark clean, simple design is apparent throughout the app. This isn't your father's Four in a Row game. The classic experience has been updated with a sleek look and feel designed for mobile devices that will keep you playing for hours.

An Options menu lets you pick a game board theme--red and black tokens or blue and yellow--to match your mood. It also lets you turn the sound on or off. Turn it on, and you'll have a sympathetic crowd groaning when you lose and cheering when you win. And those tokens will make an endearing plopping noise when they fall.
