Today's Kindle Daily Deal:

Title: Narrows Gate
Rating: 4.1 over 12 reviews
Price: $9.99 0.99

In the years surrounding World War II, a gritty Italian-American waterfront community in the shadow of New York City known as Narrows Gate is home to brutal wise guys, a gifted crooner hell bent on success and two young friends who have no idea what the future holds — or how it can rip them apart. Vivid characters driven by demons and desire clash with gut-wrenching force in Jim Fusilli’s violent, visceral novel as crime, rank ambition and the promise of the American dream battle for the souls of Bebe Marsala, the talented but compromised crooner; the happy-go-lucky Sal Benno, who is trapped by the mob; and Leo Bell, a newly minted member of the Office of Strategic Services, the predecessor of the CIA. A powerful epic in the spirit of such groundbreaking works as Mario Puzo’s The Godfather and Budd Schulberg’s On the Waterfront, Fusilli’s saga races to Hollywood, Havana, Las Vegas and the battlefields of Sicily before it explodes in an unexpected and unforgettable conclusion.

  1. Do you know if there is a way to use a wireless keyboard with the Fire? :-)

  2. Hi Shannon, thanks for your question. I haven't heard too much about this, but let me do some investigating and get back to you. My guess is that even if there isn't one out there now that works with the Fire, there will be one soon. I may do a featured article on this if I come up with anything. Thanks!

  3. I appreciate it. As a non-techie, the suggestions on this blog help me TONS!! I'd never figure this stuff out on my own. :-)

  4. No problem, Shannon. Glad to help! I did hear back from Amazon customer service and there's nothing in the way of wireless keyboards that work now. I'll keep my eyes out for anything that works in that area, because it would be very useful.

  5. Good to know, thanks! Let us know if anything changes. And thanks so much for all you do here. :-)

  6. You're welcome, Shannon. Don't be afraid to tell anyone you know with a Fire about us. ;)

  7. Are you kidding? I RAVE about this site!! I'm even going to do a post on my own blog soon. I think this place is a daily MUST for all Fire owners! Seriously. :-)

  8. Many thanks, Shannon! What's your blog?

  9. Book Dreaming

If you'd like, I'll let you know when I post it. :-)

  10. Your blog looks like it has a big following. A post would be much appreciated! And congrats for both your writing and teaching accomplishments!

  11. Thanks! I'll do a Kindle Fire post on Wednesday of this week and include the Fire Department. I'll also share on Twitter and FB.
