Top Apps of the Week!

Looking back on a great week, I think we've made some major strides toward making our Kindle Fires more functional and more fun. Let's recap some of our most popular articles from this past week, in case anyone is new or needs a refresher, and let's take a look at the apps that were the most popular according to...YOU!

One quick note: if you're still hunting for gift ideas, a great resource is Amazon's List of Most Gifted Items in their store. You might be surprised by what everybody is getting!

This Week's Top Features:
Syncing Your Kindle Fire to Your PC
How to Get a Kindle Fire for $99
Our List of Top Holiday Apps
Top Games for the Kindle Fire

Moving on, here you'll find our top 5 apps of the week. There's a nice selection of games and tools priced from very low all the way down to free!

Name: Jewels
Rating: 3.6 stars over 19 reviews
Price: 0.00
Description: In Jewels you must line up three (or, better yet, four or five) identical jewels and eliminate them from the board. The longer you make your string, the higher your score. Each time you complete a matching string, the board is repopulated with jewels. Find another place to line up at least three jewels and do it again. Collect bonuses and rack up enough points to move on to the next level.

Splashtop is the app featured in our syncing article, and it's already shot up to #35 in the entire appstore! Can't say we're surprised. So many people have been finding it useful!

This next one is a fabulous little program for saving articles you find on the web for use later when you're away from Wi-Fi. Very handy to have, and STILL discounted to half price.
Name: Read It Later Pro
Rating: 3.9 stars over 148 reviews
Price: $2.99 1.49
Description: Browsing through your Twitter feed in the morning, you come across a link to an article about up-and-coming bands in the New Orleans music scene. A major fan, you've got the Revivalists on your iPod and you think they must play this stuff in heaven. You'd love to stop and read more, but it's 7:30 and you have to be on the road. Sadly, you'll be busy and offline for most of the day, and may forget where you saw the article before you have another moment to yourself online. As you put your mobile in your pocket, you wish there were a way to save that page to read offline, in case you happen to catch some down time on the road.

After being featured as the free app of the day, Jelly Defense continues to be hugely popular. When some apps get featured, they immediately take a pounding in the reviews, but even though this one gained almost 250 reviews, the rating is still extremely high. Find out why!

Name: Jelly Defense
Rating: 4.1 stars over 283 reviews
Price: 2.99
Description: Once upon a time, in a galaxy not so far away, lived a proud and peaceful Jelly nation on the world of Diploglobe. Then one day, everything changed. Kiwi Halvas darkened the sky and an unprecedented invasion began! Join the Jelly forces and lead them to glory in a fierce battle against these alien invaders.
Look at these poor little creatures. They trust you, they believe in you, they rely on you. Can you refuse those big faithful eyes (or eye)? You're their only hope.

Analysis: Can I just say that this game looks amazing? This is a big part of why these free apps are so great. This game has been out for a few months now, and I probably wouldn't have heard of it if it weren't for this, but after today it may well be the game that everyone is playing.

It's hard to mention Angry Birds and not have it become immediately popular. This week Rovio released its update for the winter version of Angry Birds Seasons, and fans of the game were quick to respond.

In their latest adventure, Wreck the Halls, the avian avengers tackle 25 festive new levels teeming with gingerbread cookies, bells, twinkling lights, and candy canes.

Just as in the original Angry Birds, the pigs hoodwink the peace-loving flock out of their precious eggs, leaving them with nothing but a powerful thirst for revenge. It's time to bring back their unique brand of weaponry--the finger-powered slingshot--and unleash an arsenal of angry artillery in this package of nine seasonal adventures for the world's most popular physics-based casual game.
